Tryna Stay Focused

I think my kitchen is in order.

Since I moved in, I've had to spend money to buy fast food because the kitchen was out of order. The sink didn't work, the refrigerator was leaking rusty water (inside) and the stove didn't come on. So, everyday for about a month I spent money on junk food. Now that everything is in order I went grocery shopping. I spent $35 at Aldi and I have raisin bran, bananas, and eggs for breakfast, lettuce and tomatoes with chicken for lunch and fish, rice, and asparagus for dinner. Of course I can have a variety with these food staples. But my goal is to not buy anymore food for 2 weeks. I think I can manage. There are quite a few things that I still need to buy:

Carpet $200 (installation not included)
Eye exam $70
New glasses $150 (unless I get a six month supply of contacts for $120)
License renewal $100
Car repair ($100 for brakes and rotors and I don't know how much is cost for my oxygen sensors)
Remote starter for my car (Not a need, but a want)
State taxes $45
Car payment $250

So, my needs total: approx $1000

I think I have $550 in the bank and I'm not sure if unemployment will be paying me this week. I hope so because then I will be able to pay for all this stuff.

2am Stalker

It was 1:57am when I called the police. I was scared, frantic, trying to tiptoe through my apartment, just in case the perpetrator heard me and tried to come after me instead of his girlfriend who refused to open the door for him....

Okay, rewind.....

I was sound asleep and I heard this loud bang. Someone was banging on my neighbors door. Then I heard what sounded like pots and pans falling down the stairs. A male voice was yelling, "Sara (not her real name) open the door, I won't hurt you, open up, hurry..." I grabbed my phone and dialed 911. I told them there was a man banging on my neighbors door trying get in. I think I said some other stuff, but everything happened so fast. When I got off the phone, I was tip toeing in my apartment. I didn't want him to hear me walking because I didn't know if he was drunk or just plain crazy. I didn't want him to come to my apartment to bang on my door. "The police are come Sara, open up, please," he kept pleading with her. Then there was quiet. Then a car alarm went off. I heard Sara leave her apartment. What is she doing, I wondered. Why is she running after him. Let him go. Then I heard them arguing outside. I ran to the window to lift it to hear what was going on. "Stop, grandma is on the phone, talk to grandma, STOP!" She kept shouting to him. I was the police creeping down the street with no lights on, even the headlights we off. When he noticed the police, he took off out of the vehicle that I later learned he was trying to steal. The police took off after him. Some where in between all of this, I called my boss to let her know what was happening. I also peaked outside my front door and learned that it wasn't pots and pans that caused all the racket, he had broken all the glass out the security door. This was the type of glass that had wire in it. How did he do that? I wondered. I quickly closed my door before anyone came back up and ran to the other window where I saw a guy laying on the pavement and another person standing over him. I assumed the police had somehow tackled him to the ground. Three other police officers ran quickly to the scene and shortly afterwards, a police van came to pick him up.

Sara came back into the police officer to file the report. I heard her tell the police the he ran up the wall to get onto the balcony. HUH?? Ran up the wall???? She then proceeded to say that she didn't know how he got there, "he must have walked over here, but he was trying to steal my car, so I ran after him" she was telling the police. He tried to kick in window in, she told the officer. After everything calmed down and she left, I called my boss again to tell her that the police caught the guy and that the glass on the door was broken. I looked outside again and noticed the window, 8 feet high was open. Oooohh, that's the wall he climbed up. The guy had to have taken a leap from the stairs to get to the window. He must have climbed out to get to the balcony to kick in her window. But, how did he get down? There is no way down unless you jump off the second floor balcony or climb back into the window and fall 8 feet to the ground. He must have been drunk or high to do that and not get hurt.

It was now 3:30am and my car was parked right where all of this was happening. I decided to move my vehicle to the back parking lot. It was 4am by the time I went back to sleep.

The Perils of IDES

I am so sick of the letters from the unemployment office. Dag!!! I just got a letter in the mail..."there is a question about your eligibility for March 6-12..." Ugh, because I didn't contact them, they send me a letter. Now I have to explain that the reason for not contacting them is because I had just completed the testing that they required a few days before, therefore, I didn't feel the need to contact them the following week. Ggrrrrr!

I also need to check to see when my unemployment is finished. I thought they gave me 6 months, but it may have been extended to 12 months, I don't know. But, I need to be making plans.

I still have money on my Link card, $325 to be exact. I wish I could spend this money. I called them and called them. Should I be punished because they didn't do their job? I could buy a whole lotta groceries with that. Man...

Good News

I found cheap carpet that looks nice. Now I need someone to install it. I was at Menards and they have the exact same carpet that is here for .89 a sq foot. That way cheaper than the carpet store. Then I went back on yesterday and found another better deal that was .69 a sq foot and it looks just as nice. All I need now is to find someone to install it because they don't. Another good thing is that the carpet has a pad on it, so no need to buy new carpet pad. I totaled the price for the living room at around $180 sans tax. The two bedrooms will probably be about $300. That's a way better price. So what I'm gonna do is get the living room done first then the two bedrooms at a later date when I have more money. Now, who installs carpet for about $50????

My Feet Stink

Not that you wanted to know that, but this is just a sign of the seasons changing. It was over 60 degrees outside today. Spring is coming. Then there will be summer! Thank God I have a shower all my own that I can take as many showers as I want to wash my sweaty body parts. LOL.

News....

I got my rejection letter from the Asst. Director position that I applied for in February. I'm applying for a teaching position in a city that is about an hour and a half away from here. I've been working the crappiest temporary job. It is mind numbingly boring. I process donations for the March of Dimes. I sit all day and open mail and sort checks and cash (yes people still send cash in the mail). Today I got a chance to enter the information into the computer. I was too scared to check my email on the work computers so I stuck to my boring job. The worst part is that it only pays $8.25. WOW!!! I didn't know that I would be working fulltime for $8.25. My unemployment is close to $10 an hour. So, I've been taking time off so that I could still get my unemployment. And we've been so slow that they've sent us home early two days in a row. Not as many people are donating as in years past. Sign of the times.

I turned in all the required information for the graduate program. I also applied for a graduate assistantship. I pray to God that something comes through.

I ran into Coach on last Friday. He asked me to call him. I text him. He didn't respond. I'm not sure if I had the right number, but I did reach out. Oh, well. It's not meant to be. I'm sure I'll run into him again.

My hair is major drama......I want to scream. I don't know what to do about it. Remember this picture:

Yep, I look like Sideshow Bod with brown skin. The only other problems is that in the past few weeks, I know I've gained about 5 pounds, and I have a small head so I look crazy with my little head, screwy hair and big body. Ugh!!! I need an intervention!!!!!

The Resident Manager position is not too bad. I've had a few people that were trespassing the building that I've had to ask to leave and I've had to report quite a few people who have their guy friends living with them, but other than that, it's been okay. I heard that last summer this was party central. We gonna shut that down this year. They are gonna have to find a new place to party.

I haven't been reading my Bible and praying like normal. I've got to find a balance. Just like I've fallen off the wagon in my diet, I've fallen off in my spiritual life. I knows that's a shame, but I'm working on it. I'm getting back to it. I want this to be a lifestyle.

This Sucks

Yesterday I was feeling okay about my apartment. That was until........the roaches. WHAT????? I was washing my face last night and saw something crawling and noticed a tiny roach on the sink. I hurriedly killed the intruder, but was bummed and agasp when I saw his brother on the toilet. WHAT????? UGH!!!! Roaches are the devil. The invade and don't go away. So, not only do I have a crappy carpet, crappy sink, and crappy refrigerator, I have critters. WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO???? I'm gonna email my boss and let her know that I need to get the maintenance people here quickly. I'm sure they are coming from another apartment. I'm also gonna ask her is they can install the carpet. If I buy it, they can install it, right? It's a donation to the program, right?

News

I enjoy my apartment, but I'm sick of the horrible carpet, leaky kitchen faucet, and crud encrusted shower doors. I'm a little short on the funds to get the new carpet, but I'm working on it. But in good news, I got brand new tires for my car. I'm so happy for that. Now, I just need to take it to the mechanic to see why the check engine light on.

I started a new job. Grrrrr. It's not all that great. It pays $8.25 and hour. That is less than my unemployment. Ugh!! I am processing MOD donations. They come in in great batches. I open the envelops, total up the check or the cash for those who haven't gotten the memo about sending cash in the mail and I put it in all in neat piles. I nearly fell asleep the first day. The worst part is that everyone has to take a break at the same time and go to lunch at the same time. Oh, yeah, lunch is only a half an hour. Bummer!!!

I haven't finished my application yet. I have to get that done ASAP!!! I'm also applying for a teaching position in a different town. The Bible says hope deferred makes the heart sick. My heart is sick. I'm so sick of applying to jobs. But, I have to keep grinding away at it. Hmmmm.

Tax Refund

I filed my taxes on last week--Tuesday to be exact. I also too a former student to file hers. She told me that she got her refund direct deposited today. So I checked my account. Nada. I was sure it took a least 10 days, but she said it took 8 days for hers. I'll be waiting a little longer. I can't wait to get it so that I can get my new carpet. I can't get comfortable in my new apartment with the carpet being so gross.

Speaking of my new apartment...

There are several things that are broken or just plain gross. I turned on the kitchen sink to clean before I put my things away and water flowed all down inside the cabinets. The kitchen sink is broken. GGGggggrrrrrr. I can't turn the water on without it spewing all over the place. After cleaning the refrigerator, I put my food away (the little I had left from Jenny's) and I realized that since it had sat out all day while I was moving stuff most of it was spoiled. Ugh. So I went to Aldi's to get some stuff. When I got back I turned the oven on and NOTHING. Nope, it wouldn't come on. So, the sink floods the kitchen and I can't use the stove. GREAT!!! What to do, what to do. I'm supposed to call the maintenance people to come fix stuff, but I just to get things replaced. The stove is super duper old and the sink has gross crud all in the crevices. It creeps me out. I don't mind my crud, but I gag at other people's crud. It's the same way with the shower. There is a sliding door and inside the hinges are other people's crud and I gag when I try to close the shower door. It's gross. I want to get all of that replaced. I'm not sure if I have the money, but that those things will be a priority over furniture.

My New Neighbors

I know that people steal. I've had my car broken in to three times--my cds were stolen, my cell phone was stolen, and my window was broken out by a crackhead to get some change in the console. Ok, I don't know if it was a crackhead, but I assumed that was who did it. I've had my old apartment burglarized (I suspected my neighbor. I've even had my underwear stolen out of the dryer before (That was definitely my neighbor). So I knew that while moving I didn't need to leave my stuff in the hallway. Sure enough as I was moving my things, I left my wall mirror--not the $10 kind at Walmart, but the $45 kind that you get from a mirror store) at the bottom of the stairs, it's heavy and I didn't want to break it. I almost forgot about it and as I heard my neighbor go down the stairs, I decided to rush to get it because I didn't want anyone to get the idea that it was free. As I walked out my door, she was coming up the stairs with MY mirror. I scared her, "is this your?" she asked. I told her it was with a half smile and she said that she was gonna steal it. I smirked. I knew she was, that's why I went to get it when I heard her. Boy, oh boy!!! I haven't moved all my stuff in. I want to get the new carpet before I move everything.

I also found a carpet for .89 a sq foot. I think I can get it for under $600 and I don't have to buy the pad because it's attached. THANK GOD!!! Now I just need to find someone to install it for free. LOL.

The engine light in my car is on and I took it to Auto Zone and the machine said it was my catalytic converter. Good grief. The cheapest one was about $250. I don't know how much it cost for labor. I still need new tires. My entire tax refund check will go to my carpet and my car.

I'm still applying for graduate school. I have until March 15 to get my references. They want two references from an instructor. I haven't been in school since 2004. I don't know what to do. I'm praying about it.

No news on the job front, but my unemployment is coming in. Thank God. I still have money on my Link card. UGH!!! I want to go grocery shopping so badly, but I think they will make me pay that money back to the government since I'm getting unemployment. Ugh!!

How Does That Affect Your Values?

I met this guy..... Oh boy..... We shall call him Dell. Dell and I met online on FB dating about a week before Christmas. During that time ...
